Dahlonega Travel Guide: Our Weekend in a Treehouse w/ Stay Dahlonega

So, we went to Dahlonega, GA, stayed in a Treehouse and had the most magical time. I will get to all the fun details of our trip, but first, a little backstory—I bought my husband Black Crowe’s concert tickets for his birthday and due to COVID, the concert got rescheduled for 2021. Since we already had vacation time and childcare arranged, we started searching for other getaway options… and that’s when I found Stay Dahlonega. I was searching through Air B-n-B’s and saw the cutest and dreamiest Treehouse ?? and instantly knew that was the getaway we needed.

First, let’s talk about Dahlonega. Known for its gold rush history, Dahlonega is full of historic charm, wineries + outdoor adventures. We enjoyed walking around the Historic Public Square

Dahlonega’s historic public square is the hub of the county’s thriving tourism industry, and residents enjoy the city’s charm as much as visitors do. Connected by shaded brick sidewalks, shops, galleries, restaurants, and entertainment spots fill our 19th century buildings. It’s not unusual to hear musicians jamming on the square and see artists with their sketch pads whiling away breezy afternoons.

Now, back to where we stayed. We stayed at The Bed + Bough through Stay Dahlonega’s Air B-n-B.

This is the stuff dreams are made of! Nestled in the North Georgia treetops an hour north of Atlanta, Bed+Bough is the Luxury Treehouse you’ve been waiting for! Enjoy your own private nature retreat with the luxurious accommodations you’ve come to expect. Built by our team of craftsman with artisanal details and a whimsical flair, the Treehouse sits on 5 acres just outside of Dahlonega’s award winning wineries, waterfalls and historic Square. For travelers seeking rest, romance or adventure.

Not only was this Treehouse beautiful, but it was also decorated so well and made us feel completely relaxed while we were there. One thing we loved about it was that it didn’t have a TV. That truly created the perfect opportunity to read outside on the porch, down by the firepit, and even snuggled up on the couch with a fresh cup of French-Pressed Coffee!

We also got the amazing opportunity to tour Stay Dahlonega’s brand new properties, Wander Inn and Daybreak. Wander Inn is a modern, industrial, glam cottage, and Daybreak is their designer Treehouse with amazing mountain views of Wauka Mountain. Both are just minutes from the award winning wineries of North Georgia!

Here’s a list of the fun places we visited while in Dahlonega:

Friday >>

We got into town and our first stop was at the North GA Outlets for Lululemon 🙂

Right down the road was NoFo Brewery so we stopped by for a flight and some fresh air. And if you know my husband, then you know we made some sweet friends while there who gave us some great recs for the weekend!

Next, we decided to call in Pizza from Gustavo’s in Downtown Dahlonega so that we could pick it up and head to the Treehouse. We really wanted to spend some quality time in the beautiful space and although I give the Pizza a 6/10 (we’re kind of pizza snobs), it was the best decision ever… it was really nice to enjoy a quiet + relaxing night in! And PS, Gustavo’s was nice inside and looked really fun. I would definitely give it another try, but maybe for one of their other dishes while dining in! Oh, and we stopped in Picnic Cafe for a sweet treat… super cute and so yummy!

Saturday >>

We started our morning by picking up coffee at Because Coffee which was super cute and yummy! We then headed over to CrossFit Dahlonega for a workout! We were initially drawn to CF DAH because they do a free community WOD on Saturday’s which was nice because we didn’t have to each pay a drop-in fee! The facility was big, clean and had great equipment, AND the member were so nice and welcoming. I highly recommend dropping in if you’re in town!

We headed back to the Treehouse to get cleaned up, have some lunch (we brought stuff for sandwhiches… mostly so we could spend more money at the wineries, lol), and then spent some time relaxing, reading and getting a little work done.

After we toured Stay Dahlonega’s new properties, we headed out for the wineries! First, we stopped by Kaya Vineyards and WOW… breath-taking. The views were unreal and they had amazing wines, live music and a cute gift shop!

We then met some friends over at Cavendar Creek Vineyards, which was only about 6 minutes up the road! We loved this Winery and chose to sit down at the Barn where we could enjoy the beautiful views of the vineyards, pimento cheese + spin dip, yummy wine + live music… all in good company! We walked up to the main area of the Winery where they had their gift shop, an inside bar, seating and a huge back deck of seating that over looked their farm! We will definitely be back to this winery!

The Barn!

We then headed to Downtown Dahlonega to walk around the Square and grab dinner. We decided on Bourbon Street Grille for dinner and it did not dissapoint! I got the Crab Crakes and Patrick got the Shrimp + Crawfish!

We called it a night after dinner and spent the rest of the evening relaxing in the Treehouse.

Sunday>>

Check out was at 11am, so we spent the morning exploring the property, taking in the nature and soaking up our last few hours of the vacay! We hit the road and made a pit stop in Atlanta for donuts at Revolution Doughnuts. If you know us then you know we LOVE fun + fancy donuts, so stopping was a must. Next, we headed over to Krog Street Market for lunch at Yalla for Chicken Shawarma! And that concludes our trip!
